Resolution authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming and construction of traffic signal/roadway improvements on South Cesar Chavez Drive from West National Avenue to West Greenfield Avenue under the 2004-2007 Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) program.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming and construction of traffic signal/roadway improvements using Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) program funds. The agreement provides 90 percent Federal/10 percent local cost sharing of the preliminary engineering and construction costs. The resolution also directs the City Comptroller to create the necessary accounts to fund the City of Milwaukee's share of preliminary engineering for these projects.

Whereas, Preliminary approval has been requested and received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT), along with a Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee, for the programming and construction of a 2004-2007 Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) project; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has submitted a project agreement for execution by the City of Milwaukee for the design and construction of:

Project I.D. 2967-10-00/70
South Cesar Chavez Drive
National Avenue to Greenfield Avenue
Roadway Improvements
Milwaukee County
