Analysis
This ordinance specifies the following to be effective pay period 13, 2007:
1. Eligibility of new management pay plan employes for sick leave shall begin immediately as it is accrued each pay period.
2. Eligibility of new management employes for vacation benefits shall begin immediately as it is accrued each pay period. If a management employee leaves the service of the city before 12 months of employment any vacation accrued and used shall be deemed earned and shall not be deducted from the employees last paycheck.
3. A third week of vacation time may be authorized by the department of employe relations, with the concurrence of the chair of the committee on finance and personnel, if needed to recruit a new management pay plan employe.
4. Codifies existing tuition benefits for management employes (now in resolution file number 061209) by creating s. 350-206 of the code.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 350-37-6 of the code is renumbered 350-37-6-a and amended to read:

350-37. Sick and Disability Leave.
6. ELIGIBILITY. >>a.<> ,except for management employes as provided in par. b,<< shall begin after the completion of 6 months of actual service following regular appointment, but accumulations shall be retroactive to the time of regular appointment. Eligibility of city laborers, regular or sanitation workers for sick and disability leave allowance shall begin immediately upon appointment to the title, city laborer (regular) or sanitation worker, but accumulation shall be retroactive to the leave accrued while holding the title city laborer (seasonal) as provided in sub. 1. ...
