Substitute resolution amending the budget for shoreline protection and a pedestrian/ bicycle trail along City of Milwaukee property adjacent to the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Body
Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 001076 authorized a maximum budget of $708,000, of which $528,000 was to be funded by a Transportation Enhancement grant and the remaining local share of $180,000 was to be funded equally by the City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Art Museum for construction of shoreline protection improvements and a pedestrian/bicycle trail at the site of the Milwaukee Art Museum; and

Whereas, Construction bids were solicited during the summer of 2001; however, the lowest responsible bid significantly exceeded authorized budget levels and, consequently, bids were rejected; and

Whereas, Efforts have been made to reduce project costs; however, actual costs will likely exceed authorized budget levels; and

Whereas, Total project costs are currently estimated at $852,500 of which $536,000 will be funded by the grant and the remaining local share of $316,500 will be funded equally by the City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Art Museum; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to let construction contracts for the project; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is hereby authorized to amend within the Capital Improvement Fund, Grant and Aid Projects, the necessary Project/Grant Chartfield values for design and construction for the project (Expenditure) and transfer to these accounts the amount required under the grant agreement and City Accounting Policy, but not to excee...
