Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Water Works to perform sewer billing services for the City of Greenfield, for a fee.

Body

Whereas, The statutes and ordinances establishing the sewer user charge imposed by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD), requires each municipality to recover the sewer charges and remit to the MMSD; and

Whereas, The City of Greenfield, a retail water customer, has requested the Milwaukee Water Works to include the MMSD sewer user charge on the water bill sent to Greenfield accounts; and

Whereas, Water Works' officials, in the spirit of intergovernmental cooperation, have discussed with Greenfield officials the feasibility and practicality of performing the sewer billing to Greenfield accounts and determined that the Water Works has this capability within its system; now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Water Works is hereby authorized to perform sewer user billing services for the City of Greenfield and charge an initial service fee of $1.25 per bill issued, subject to annual review and adjustment; such charge being sufficient to assure that no additional costs will be incurred by Milwaukee Water Works' customers.
