Analysis:      
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of information and media technologies equipment to be used for law enforcement purposes within the Milwaukee Police Department.
 
Body:
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and
 
Whereas, The Dell Computer Corporation has offered to donate three desktop computers to the Milwaukee Police Department to be used for law enforcement purposes; and
 
Whereas, It is anticipated that other interested parties may offer to donate other information and media technologies related equipment to the Milwaukee Police Department; and
 
Whereas, This equipment will enhance the Department's technology capabilities, especially as it relates to training personnel and detection of computer related crimes; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to accept donations of information and media technologies equipment for law enforcement purposes; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That such authority to accept donations for said purpose shall continue, unless otherwise rescinded or amended by future Common Council action.
