ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Public Library to apply for an Adaptive Technology for Library Access Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in the amount of $91,535 with a city share of $11,535 and a grantor share of $80,000. The purpose of the project is to provide specialized adaptive computer hardware and software for all 13 libraries that will improve access to print and online resources for customers with impaired vision or mobility.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to provide specialized adaptive computer hardware and software for all 13 libraries that will improve access to print and online resources for customers with impaired vision or mobility; and
 
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/99 to 12/31/99 would cost $91,535 of which $11,535(13%) would be provided by the city and $80,000(87%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction is authorized.
