Title
Substitute resolution relating to collaboration between Port Milwaukee, the Department of City Development, the Innovation Office and the City Clerk.
Analysis
This resolution directs Port Milwaukee to connect and collaborate with the Department of City Development, the Innovation Director in the Department of Administration, and the new Innovation position in the Common Council - City Clerk.
Body
Whereas, Primary functions of the Department of City Development include business advocacy and job growth in the Milwaukee community; and
Whereas, Port Milwaukee also works to develop businesses and build employment opportunities in Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The 2026 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 250001 on November 7, 2025; and
Whereas, The 2026 Budget adds a position of Policy and Administration Coordinator in the Common Council-City Clerk’s Office to support the development of transformational City policies and programs; and
Whereas, Amendment 64A placed a footnote in the 2026 Budget directing Port Milwaukee to connect with the Department of City Development, the Innovation Director in the Department of Administration, and with the new Innovation position in the Common Council - City Clerk; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Port Milwaukee staff is directed to connect and collaborate with the Department of City Development, the Innovation Director in the Department of Administration, and the new Policy and Administration Coordinator position in the Common Council - City Clerk; and, be it
Further Resolved, That Port Milwaukee shall present a status report on these collaboration efforts to the Common Council within 120 days of adoption of this resolution.
