HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
|
Minutes note: Staff planner Andrew Stern presented a proposal for a new deck and patio doors at a Queen Anne style house located at 107 West Brown Street in the Brewers Hill Historic District.
Staff expressed concerns that the proposed 15.5 foot by 13.5 foot deck was too prominent and made the side elevation appear to be the primary facade.
The commission noted that the AI-generated rendering looked "suburban" and suggested using traditional materials like tongue-and-groove wood and custom spindles instead of composite materials.
Appeared Shalonda McCroryre of Brew City BnBs mentioned she is the contractor and is restoring the original clapboard siding and windows as part of a larger rehabilitation project.
The commission decided to hold the matter until next month to allow the applicant to work with staff on a scaled down deck design and more appropriate carriage-style doors. | | |
