Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute and authorize the approval of plots of right-of-way required for the construction of a new bridge over the Milwaukee River and for the construction and new alignment of the local streets associated with the removal of the Park East Freeway (STH 145). This project lies within the City of Milwaukee and is partially funded by Federal/State funds. The City's share of real estate costs for the proposed improvements are estimated to be $180,000 of the total estimated cost of real estate of $1,020,000. This resolution also authorizes and directs the City Comptroller to transfer funds and establish subaccounts for the preliminary engineering work.

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee on November 6, 1999, adopted Resolution File Number 990947 authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for various projects associated with the removal of the Park East Freeway (STH 145); and

Whereas, An environmental review process was undertaken for the project and a "Build" alternative selected; and

Whereas, The "Build" alternative includes the construction of a new vertical lift bridge over the Milwaukee River connecting West McKinley Avenue and East Knapp Street; and construction of local roads from North 6th Street to North Broadway; and
