This resolution authorizes and directs the Comptroller to transfer $4.3 million borrowing authority from the Milwaukee Water Works' Linnwood and Howard ozone systems accounts to the Linnwood and Howard process upgrade accounts. The transferred funds will be used for valve replacements, washwater pump replacements and automated controls at the 2 treatment plants.


BODY:
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, through the adoption of the 1995 Capital Improvements Program Budget, authorized $8 million borrowing authority for the Howard Treatment Process Upgrade (account number 42-764-2813) and $19 million borrowing authority for the Linnwood Treatment Process Upgrade (account number 42-764-1813) as part of the total $89 million appropriation for water treatment improvements; and

Whereas, The Common Council, through the adoption of Resolution File Number 951399, authorized $18 million borrowing authority for the Howard Ozone System (account number 42-764-2823) and $33 million borrowing authority for the Linnwood Ozone System (account number 42-764-1823); and

Whereas, Expenditures for previously identified ozone system projects are estimated to be $4.4 million less than the original estimate of $51 million; and

Whereas, Other water treatment process improvements, including valve replacements, washwater pump replacements and automated controls, are needed to improve the operational reliability and efficiency of both treatment plants; now, therefore, be it
