This charter ordinance amends s. 36-05-10-a-0 to include a trustee as beneficiary of an ordinary death benefit under the employes' retirement system.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1: Section 36-05-10-a-0 of the Charter is amended to read as follows:

36-05. Benefits.

10. ORDINARY DEATH BENEFIT.

a. Beneficiary. Upon the receipt of proper proofs of death of a member in active service which is not the result of an accident in the actual performance of duty as defined in sub. 5, his >>or her<< accumulated contributions shall be paid to such person,>>or such trustee,<>or she<< has nominated by written designation duly executed and filed with the board prior to his >>or her<< death, otherwise to his >>or her<< estate, and if such member has completed one or more years of creditable service there shall be paid in addition a lump sum benefit of ½ the final average salary of such deceased member. Part 2. This is a charter ordinance and shall take effect 60 days after its passage and publication, unless within such 60 days a referendum petition is filed as provided in s. 66.0101(5), Wis. Stats., in which event this ordinance shall not take effect until submitted to a referendum and approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.
