Analysis
This resolution allows the Milwaukee Water Works to publish updated versions of the Rules and Regulations Governing Water Service and the Water Service Piping Specifications. The revisions are necessary to incorporate changes in procedures and to allow the use of improved construction methods and materials.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee City Charter allows for periodic updates and modifications to the Rules and Regulations of the Milwaukee Water Works and the Water Service Piping Specifications; and
Whereas, The Rules and Regulations Governing Water Service by the Milwaukee Water Works were last published in 1985; and
Whereas, The Water Service Piping Specifications by the Milwaukee Water Works were last published in 1982; and
Whereas, The supply of the last printings have been exhausted; and
Whereas, There have been changes in methods and procedures since 1982 which should be incorporated in the "Rules and Regulations" and the "Water Specifications"; and
Whereas, There is great need for publishing and disseminating up-to-date information for the purpose of assuring standard methods of operating in the Utility; and
Whereas, The 2002 update of the Rules and Regulations Governing Water Service by the Milwaukee Water Works will be placed on file with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that, in accordance with Section 14-16 of the City Charter, the Milwaukee Water Works is hereby authorized to publish the 2002 revision of the Rules and Regulations Governing Water Service and the Water Service Piping Specifications and to implement said rules and specifications upon their publication.
