Analysis
This resolution endorses Operation Safe Summer with its 5-point approach to promoting neighborhood safety in the City. Operation Safe Summer calls for the participation of the Police Department, churches, residents, youth, and elected and community leaders for the purpose of advancing a cooperative effort to increase neighborhood safety.
Body

Whereas, The effect of an unsafe neighborhood reaches beyond the boundaries of that neighborhood to impact the health, safety and welfare of an entire city; and

Whereas, Increasing neighborhood safety not only promotes a better quality of life for residents, but also helps to stabilize the economic base for businesses and establish a more inviting environment for residents and businesses to invest their resources; and

Whereas, By working to include various community stakeholders in support of a city-wide effort to increase neighborhood safety, the best chance for success can be achieved; and

Whereas, Operation Safe Summer calls for the participation of the Police Department, churches, residents, youth, and elected and community leaders for the purpose of advancing a cooperative effort to increase neighborhood safety; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council endorses Operation Safe Summer and calls upon the Police Department and various community stakeholders to undertake the following 5-point approach to promote neighborhood safety in the City of Milwaukee:

1. That the Police Department increase curfew enforcement efforts while increasing its attention to and renewing its focus on quality of life issue...
