This resolution authorizes a $50,000 appropriation from the Common Council Contingent Fund to the Outside Counsel/Expert Witness Special Purpose Account for outside counsel and authorizing an agreement with Michael, Best & Freidrich, LLP, for representation of the City of Milwaukee regarding the Charter School litigation.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has negotiated a contract with the firm of Michael, Best & Freidrich, LLP, to provide them with representation regarding the Charter School litigation; and
Whereas, The City Attorney has a conflict of interest in representing the City in this matter; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the sum of $50,000 be appropriated from the Common Council Contingent Fund (09-910-8000) to the Outside Counsel/Expert Witness Special Purpose Account (01-023-8001) and the City Attorney's Office Account (01-023-8002) for the purpose of retaining Michael, Best & Freidrich, LLP, to represent the City regarding the Charter School litigation; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the attached agreement with Michael, Best & Freidrich, LLP, be approved for an amount not to exceed $50,000, such amounts to be expended upon the presentation of invoices for service at the rate of not more than $185.00 per hour to the Office of the City, and meeting with the approval of the Office of the City Attorney.
