Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has a commitment to fair and impartial elections; and

Whereas, The State of Wisconsin campaign finance law requires candidates for public office and duly elected public officials to disclose to the filing officer their campaign contributions and disbursements, and to abide by certain contribution limits and prohibitions; and

Whereas, The State of Wisconsin campaign finance law does not require candidates for public office and duly elected public officials to file their bank statements or other financial documentation with the filing officer to verify such contributions and disbursements; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Administration-Intergovernmental Relations Division is directed to seek introduction and passage of state legislation requiring candidates for public office and duly elected public officials to provide bank statements and other financial documentation to the City of Milwaukee Elections Commission as verification of contributions made to and disbursements made from their campaign accounts.
