Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a permit allowing closure of North 51st Street for a distance of approximately 150 feet north of West Chamber Street for a period of two months. During that time, Hunzinger Construction Company will be installing a new skywalk across North 51st Street for St. Joseph Hospital. The skywalk will link the main hospital building with a parking structure.
Body
Whereas, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center is expanding its hospital facilities located at 5000 West Chambers Street; and

Whereas, The hospital has hired Hunzinger Construction Company to construct the addition; and

Whereas, One component of the hospital expansion project is installation of a new skywalk across North 51st Street that will link the main hospital building with a parking structure; and

Whereas, In order to safely install the skywalk, Hunzinger has requested permission to close approximately 150 feet of North 51st Street immediately north of West Chambers Street for a period of two months; and

Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to issue a permit for temporary occupancy of up to one-third of public rights-of-way while temporary use beyond that must be approved by the Common Council; and

Whereas, Hunzinger has agreed to install a covered sidewalk in the closed portion of North 51st Street that will allow pedestrians to walk between West Chambers Street and West Burleigh Street; now, therefore, be it
