This resolution approves phase one of the final plan for reallocating space on the 6th Floor of City Hall recommended by the Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Division. The resolution also expresses the Common Council's support for the 1998 City Budget funding necessary to undertake this project ($700,000).


BODY:
Whereas, On November 26, 1996, the Common Council adopted File Number 961217, a resolution directing the Department of Public Works to provide an assessment of the space needs of the Employes' Retirement System, Department of Administration and City Clerk's Office relative to the reallocation of space to be vacated on the 6th Floor of City Hall by the Department of Administration - Standards and Procurement Division; and

Whereas, In response to this directive, the Department of Public Works submitted preliminary options for reallocating space on the 6th Floor of City Hall, along with cost estimates and an interim space plan to provide additional space for the Employes' Retirement System; and

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 961953, adopted May 13, 1997, directed the Department of Public Works to implement said interim space plan; and

Whereas, File Number 961953 further directed the Department of Public Works to prepare a final planning study providing options and recommendations for allocating permanent office space for the Department of Administration, Employes' Retirement System and City Clerk's Office; and

Whereas, File Number 961953 also stipulated that none of the space to be vacated by the Department of Administration - Standards and Procurement Division shall be permanently reassigned or reallocated until the Common Co...
