Title:
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Motorcycle Unit Traffic and Criminal Software Reporting Project Grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund a Motorcycle Unit TraCS Reporting Project Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, in the amount of $125,000, with a city share of $0 and a grantor share of $125,000. The purpose of this project is to allow for the purchase and installation of mobile computers and printers for the motorcycle unit.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, for a TraCS Motorcycle Reporting Project Grant; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 05/01/07 to 09/30/07 would cost $125,000, of which $0 would be provided by the city and $125,000 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council file 030712; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2007 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: TraCS Motorcycle Reporting Project Grant
