This resolution satisfies an audit requirement and authorizes the Water Superintendent to sign and file applications for low interest loans to fund water improvement projects and to accept loan funds of approximately $19.5 million upon approval by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is administrating low interest loans made available under the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996 (CFDA #66468); and
 
Whereas, The Safe Drinking Water Loan Program will evaluate loan applications and assign priority ranking to those projects that address public health issues; and
 
Whereas, The Water Works has several projects that would be good candidates and qualify for high priority ranking within the loan program; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that Ms. Carrie M. Lewis, Water Works Superintendent, is hereby authorized to sign and submit applications for financial assistance under the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That any documents evidencing loans or obligating repayment be executed by the proper City Officials; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City of Milwaukee be authorized to accept low interest loans upon approval by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Milwaukee Water Works be authorized to:
 
1. Expend funds for specified purposes as indicated in the project budgets; and
 
2. Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the project budgets.
