This substitute resolution approves the settlement terms between the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee District Council 48, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, implementing a grievance arbitration award issued by Arbitrator Neil M. Gundermann. The arbitration involved the suspension of one Building Inpsection employee. The arbitrator ruled that the 120-day disciplinary suspension should be recuded to 60 days and directed the City to make the employee whole for wages lost.

BODY:
Whereas, Arbitrator Neil M. Gundermann issued an arbitration award on January 29, 1999, in the matter of a grievance appeal filed by Milwaukee District Council 48, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, relative to the suspension of a Building Inspection employee; and

Whereas, The arbitration award provided that Bernard Seilen be made whole for wages lost and any other benefits to which he was entitled under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement; and

Whereas, On March 31, 1999, the city negotiating team and Milwaukee District Council 48, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, executed a memorandum of understanding embodying the terms and conditions that implement Arbitrator Gundermann's award for this grievant; and

Whereas, This memorandum of understanding constitutes the full and complete settlement of all issues between the parties in the matter of Arbitrator Gundermann's award and the settlement of the 1997 grievance of Bernard Seilen and copies of this memorandum are attached to this file and incorporated herein as though fully set forth at length; now, therefore, be it
