This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to award contracts for emergency work caused by the failure of a section of a feeder main at Milwaukee Water Works Texas Avenue Pumping Station located at 2900 East Texas Avenue.
Body
Whereas, During the early morning hours of Friday, March 26, 2004, a raw water supply line connecting the Texas Avenue Pumping Station to the Howard Avenue Water Purification Plant failed at a point just outside the pumping station in the intersection of East Texas Avenue and South Shore Drive; and
Whereas, The Commissioner directed Michels Pipeline Construction to undertake emergency work to stabilize damaged roadway and embankment, cut and remove the failed section of pipe and install a newly fabricated section of pipe; and
Whereas, The Commissioner directed Price Brothers Company to undertake efforts to inspect, design and fabricate the replacement section for installation; and
Whereas, There is $100,000 available in 2004 budget appropriation under 0410-6411-R643-006300 "Liability Self-Insurance Reserve" to be used for this purpose; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the directives by the Commissioner of Public Works to Michels Pipeline Construction and Price Brothers Company to undertake emergency work to stabilize roadway and embankment, fabricate the replacement section and make the necessary repairs at the Texas Avenue Pumping Station is approved; and, be it
Further Resolved, That up to $600,000 be and hereby is appropriated from Milwaukee Water Works Retained Earnings to Account 0410-6416-R999-006300 to provide additional financing for the cost of this emergency work.
