This resolution authorizes settlement of the lawsuit entitled Connie Burks v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Milwaukee County Case No. 22-CV-6545 for the total amount of $180, 000.00.

Body

Whereas, Plaintiff, Connie Burks has filed a motor vehicle personal injury lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee and Jeanel Marie Crawley.

 

Whereas, Counsel for the parties have reached an agreement to settle the above-referenced lawsuit for a total amount $180,000.00 subject to approval by the Common Council; and

 

Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deem it expeditious and just to settle this lawsuit; now, therefore be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers be and hereby authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $180,000.00 payable to the order of Leavel & Borton, S.C. Client Trust Account as soon as practicable, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 0001-1490-S118-006300; and be it

 

Further Resolved, that for and in consideration of the above-referenced payments, the plaintiff, by their representatives, and their attorneys, will provide to the City a release of any and all claims arising out of or in any way related to this incident.
