Title
Substitute resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Neighborhood Services to accept and fund a Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, through the State of Wisconsin’s Division of Emergency Management; in the amount of $308,863.89 of which $231,647.91 is being provided by the grantor and $77,215.98 would be provided by the City from the Department of Neighborhood Services operations budget. The purpose of this grant is to fund staff education, outreach material and safety equipment.
Body
Whereas, The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program supports states, local and territorial governments and Tribal Nations as they work to reduce their hazard risk.

Whereas, BRIC helps build capacity, aids innovation, and supports infrastructure projects; and

Whereas, The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has made a BRIC award to the State of Wisconsin’s Division of Emergency Management; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee’s Department of Neighborhood Services is a subapplicant awardee of the State of Wisconsin with a grantor share of $231,647.91 and a grantee share of $77,215.98 from the Department of Neighborhood Services’ operations budget; and

Whereas, The grant will be used by the Department of Neighborhood Services for staff education, outreach materials and safety equipment; and

Whereas, The completion date for the BRIC grant subaward is September 26, 2027; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that acceptance and funding of a Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant is authorized and the Department of Neighborhood Services shall accept this grant without further approval ...
