Resolution relating to payment of estimated fourth-quarter 2000 program costs for the City's participation in the Joint Certification Program and payment of program-closure costs.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the payment of $19,900 for the City's estimated share of operating the Minority and Disadvantaged Business Joint Certification Program for the fourth quarter of 2000 and payment of yet-unbilled program-closure costs estimated at $11,000.
Body
Whereas, The City has participated in the Joint Certification Program since the mid-1980s as a way of increasing contracting opportunities for firms owned by minorities and disadvantaged persons; and
Whereas, The 2000 City Budget for the Department of Administration contained an appropriation of $50,000 in the special fund, "Minority and Disadvantaged Business Joint Certification", to cover costs related to the City's participation in the Joint Certification Program, which has been expended; and
Whereas, The City has received a request for payment from Milwaukee County in the amount of $19,900 for estimated fourth quarter 2000 costs for the City's participation in the Joint Certification Program; and
Whereas, The County has not yet calculated final program costs related to fourth-quarter costs and final-billing costs, which are currently estimated at $11,000, related to discontinuation of the Joint Certification Program; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Administration is authorized and directed to expend a total of $19,900 from a 2000 account, account number 0001-1511-R999-636508-2000, for estimated payment to Milwaukee County for the City's full membership in the Joint Certification Program in the fourth quarter of 2000; and, be it
