This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to apply for, accept and fund a 2000 Better Communities Through Traffic Calming Workshops Grant project from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $35,310, with a city non-required share of $5,310 and a grantor share of $30,000. The purpose of the project is to provide a series of workshops on the latest planning and design techniques for the selection, design, and installation of traffic calming devices.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for Federal grant funds (CFDA #20.600) from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety for the training of engineering and planning staff members, community leaders and elected officials in the area of traffic calming planning and design; and

Whereas, The presentation of the grant workshops on March 27, 28, and 30, 2000 would cost $35,310 of which $5,310 (15%) would be provided by the City and $30,000 (85%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety is authorized and the Department of Public Works shall accept these grants without further approval unless the terms of the grants change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit Funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2000 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects, Fund the following amounts for the project/program titled 2000 Better Communities Through Traffic Calming Workshops:
