Analysis
This resolution provides authorization to the City Comptroller to adjust the cash recorded on the City's books of account up to $84,000. Such amount will allow the books of account to reconcile to the City Treasurer's bank accounts.
Body:
Whereas, At December 31, 2000, the City's books of account reflect approximately of $84,000 cash which cannot be reconciled to the Treasurer's bank accounts; and
Whereas, Some of this difference dates back to 1999; and
Whereas, Extensive effort to find this difference has been undertaken by the City Treasurer with assistance from the Comptroller; and
Whereas, It is doubtful that further effort is warranted; now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City Comptroller is authorized to adjust the cash accounts recorded on the City's books by an amount up to $84,000 to reconcile to the City Treasurer's bank accounts; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the appropriation for this adjustment will be from existing, unused appropriations in the Treasurer's 2000 budget, account number 0001-2210-1820-R999-2000-636508, Other Miscellaneous Services, Program "General Financial Services."
