This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and expend private donations to the Milwaukee Police Department for the creation of a "Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program" (DARE).
BODY:
Whereas, On December 16, 1986, the Common Council adopted File Number 86-1389 which created guidelines for handling the authorization and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and
 
Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department anticipates receiving contributions to establish a "Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program"; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department is hereby authorized to accept and expend funds and/or equipment up to $100,000 for the purpose of establishing a "Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program;" and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is authorized to establish a special account within the Police Department's Budget and to transfer to this account appropriations from the 1997 Contributions Fund (Account No. 01-027-8001) and an equal amount of offsetting estimated revenues from Account Number 01-999-9960 to the departmental revenue account up to $100,000; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Police Department is hereby authorized to expend, from the amount appropriated for the "Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program", no more than the amount actually received in contributions and in accordance with described City policies and procedures.
