Substitute resolution authorizing application for a Walmart Cyber Grant to support Bronzeville Week 2025.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City Clerk’s Office to apply for a $5,000 Walmart Cyber Grant. This grant will support the activities of Bronzeville Week 2025 to celebrate African American culture, history, art, and entertainment.

Body

Whereas, Common Council File Number 240753, adopted in October 2024, is a resolution designating August 2-9, 2025 as Bronzeville Week in Milwaukee; and

 

Whereas, Bronzeville Week is a celebration showcasing the history, culture, art, and commerce in the Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District; and

 

Whereas, The Bronzeville area contains numerous buildings of cultural and architectural significance worthy of attention and preservation, including King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church (1870, originally Evangelical Dreieinigkeits Kirche), the Charles Ehlers House (1880), Garfield Avenue School (1887) and the America’s Black Holocaust Museum (2019); now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Clerk’s Office is authorized to apply for a Walmart Cyber Grant to support Bronzeville Week 2025.
