Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works - Operations Division (Forestry Section) to accept and fund a 2024 Urban Forestry grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the amount of up to $25,100, with a City share of $12,550 and a grantor share of $12,550. The purpose of the grant is to develop and conduct various levels of Chainsaw Safety and Tree Rigging & Removal Training Workshops for City of Milwaukee Forestry employees.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to develop and conduct various levels of Chainsaw Safety and Tree Rigging & Removal Training Workshops (which may include Log Grading and Marketing) for City of Milwaukee Forestry employees; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 1/1/2024 to 12/31/2024 would cost $25,100, of which $12,550 (50%) would be provided by the City and $12,550 (50%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works - Operations Division (Forestry Section) is authorized to accept and fund a 2024 Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry grant - Advancing Milwaukee Urban Forestry Workforce Development and Training without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
