Title
Resolution releasing 2002 appropriation for City Telephone Switch Replacement Project and authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to enter into the necessary contracts to accomplish this project. (Budget & Management)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the release from hold of the 2002 Appropriation for the City Telephone Switch Replacement capital improvement project deferred by Common Council Resolution 011615 adopted on April 23, 2002. The uncertainty regarding State Shared Revenue payments which prompted the project deferrals has been resolved.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council deferred certain 2002 Capital Improvement Projects and Programs by Resolution 011615 adopted on April 23, 2002 in light of proposed reductions in state shared revenue payments; and
Whereas, The state shared revenue issue has been favorably resolved by state legislative action, it is in the best fiscal interest of the City of Milwaukee and its residents to reinstate the City Telephone Switch Replacement Capital Improvements Project 2002 appropriation of $5.0 million; and
Whereas, Common Council Resolution 011615 required that the Finance and Personnel Committee and the Common Council act to reinstate any deferred projects and programs to active status; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that expenditures related to those portions of the 2002 appropriations for the City Telephone Switch Replacement capital improvements project (0321-5010-0001-R999-BU110021000-000600) are hereby reinstated; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller and other appropriate City officers are authorized and directed to take necessary actions to reinstate said project to active status; and, be it
