This resolution authorizes the transfer of $50,000 from the City of Milwaukee Contingency Fund and $50,000 from existing Port of Milwaukee Capital Improvement Funds for North Harbor and other Port planning purposes.


BODY:
Whereas, The area surrounding the Port of Milwaukee's North Harbor Tract is undergoing major changes, including the construction of the Art Museum Expansion; and

Whereas, This area is developing into a destination for travelers, tourists and citizens drawn to such attractions as the Art Museum, the Wisconsin Lake Schooner Association facilities and the Maier festival grounds; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee's North Harbor Tract is a key crossroads in this developing area; and

Whereas, The Board of Harbor Commissioners desires to perform a proper planning study of the North Harbor Tract and other Port properties; and

Whereas, These planning studies are to include development, facility, market and engineering studies of the properties and potential attractions thereon; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee desires to engage the services of a consultant or consultants to perform such planning studies; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee has determined that such planning studies will cost approximately $100,000; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee was going to use $100,000 received in 1998 from the Milwaukee Art Museum; and

Whereas, The City Comptroller advised that these funds could not be appropriated until 1999; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee desires to perform these planning studies in 1998; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee desires to use $50,000 of existing Capital Improvement Funds and $50,0...
