Title
Resolution authorizing the City of Milwaukee to enter into a federal funds subaward agreement with Harbor District, Inc. to accept and fund a sub-recipient grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for the installation of green infrastructure on South 1st Street from West Lincoln Avenue to South Chase Avenue as part of a City traffic safety and street repaving project, in the 12th and 14th Aldermanic Districts.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works, Infrastructure Services Division, to enter into a federal funds subaward agreement with Harbor District, Inc. to accept and fund a sub-recipient grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for the installation of green infrastructure on South 1st Street from West Lincoln Avenue to South Chase Avenue. The green infrastructure (“GI”), namely depaving, native landscaping, stormwater trees, and bioswales will be constructed as part of a traffic safety and street repaving project that will narrow and repave the existing roadway. Construction is expected to begin in 2025 and end in 2026. The City costs of the project approved by this resolution is $144,432.17 and the total estimated cost is $1,073,898.

Whereas, The Harbor District, Inc. (“HDI”) was awarded a 2023 Sustain Our Great Lakes (“SOGL”) grant in the amount not to exceed $528,385 (NFWF Grant ID 0501.23.079205) through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for the installation of GI along the Kinnickinnic River on South 1st Street from West Lincoln Avenue to South Chase Avenue, collectively known as “the Project,”; and
