Substitute resolution authorizing the temporary installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of N. Alois Street and W. State Street during the 1998 stage of the IH-94 (East-West Freeway) Rehabilitation Project.

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install temporary traffic control signals at the intersection of N. Alois Street and W. State Street for the duration of the 1998 stage of the IH-94 (East-West Freeway) Rehabilitation Project.
BODY:
Whereas, The 1998 IH-94 (East-West Freeway) Rehabilitation Project will include closing the Stadium Freeway south to IH-94 east ramp and N. Alois Street will receive some of the diverted traffic; and
Whereas, This intersection has been identified as having insufficient gaps in the W. State Street traffic stream to safely accommodate the higher anticipated volume of the N. Alois Street traffic and necessitates the temporary installation of a traffic signal; and
Whereas, The total estimated cost of this installation is $30,000 which is being reimbursed by the Wisconsin DOT; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works be and hereby is authorized and directed to install temporary traffic control signals at the intersection of N. Alois Street and W. State Street with funding as indicated:
