This resolution directs the Department of Public Works to create a public parking lot on a City-owned parcel located at 4901 West Fond du Lac Avenue.
Body
Whereas, Reckless driving in the city of Milwaukee has reached the level of a public health crisis; and
Whereas, The intersection of West Capitol Drive, W. Fond du Lac Avenue and North 51st Street is one of the 3 most dangerous intersections in the city according to the Milwaukee Police Department; and
Whereas, Temporary measures to reduce speeding and reckless driving on West Fond du Lac Avenue have not resulted in lasting improvements in roadway safety; and
Whereas, Many customers patronizing businesses on West Fond du Lac Avenue near North 51st Street have had their vehicles damaged by reckless drivers while parking on the street; and
Whereas, Off-street parking would provide a safer alternative to customers wishing to patronize businesses on West Fond du Lac Avenue; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee owns a parcel of land located at 4901 West Fond du Lac Avenue; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of Public Works is directed to develop the parcel at 4901 West Fond du Lac Avenue as an off street parking lot.
