Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of PublicWorks to execute the Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming of the South Point Streetscape Project. The project will be funded 80 percent by CMAQ funds, with the remaining 20 percent being paid by City funds.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has actively promoted the expansion of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and

Whereas, West Greenfield Avenue has been identified as a location that has experienced a trend of disinvestment; and

Whereas, The South Point Streetscape Project is a proposed project which creates a more pedestrian and bicycle friendly atmosphere; and

Whereas, Increased pedestrian and bicycle activity is one element in attracting new private investment to revitalize the neighborhood retail district; and

Whereas, Bicycle and pedestrian projects such as the South Point Streetscape Project are eligible for the state's CMAQ program; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee applied for CMAQ funds to undertake the South Point Streetscape Project; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has approved this application and submitted a Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for the programming of the project with federal aid under the STP-Discretionary program; now, therefore, be it
