Whereas, The Department of Public Works manages numerous infrastructure and maintenance programs but currently provides related information through multiple online platforms that may be difficult for residents to navigate; and
Whereas, A centralized, user-friendly system such as a searchable map or dashboard would improve public access to current information on construction schedules, street closures, and other public-facing activities; and
Whereas, The 2026 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 250001 on November 7, 2025; and
Whereas, Amendment 69 placed a footnote in the 2026 Budget directing Department of Public Works to create a user-friendly way to find information about construction projects and public-facing department activities; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is directed to develop and publish a user-friendly public system providing current information on construction projects and street closures; and, be it
Further Resolved, That, within 60 days of adoption of this resolution, the Department shall provide a status update on implementation of this directive.
