This resolution authorizes expenditure of $5,000 from the Economic Development Committee fund as a contribution to the Community Market Development Institute, a non-profit organization contracted to provide technical assistance to community-based groups located in Milwaukee, for a room and display area at the International Council of Shopping Centers Convention, to be held in Las Vegas, May 21-25, 2000.
BODY:
Whereas, The International Council of Shopping Centers Convention will be held in Las Vegas, May 21-25, 2000; and
Whereas, Over 29,000 retailers, commercial brokers, developers and municipal representatives attended the 1999 convention; and
Whereas, The Community Market Development Institute (CMDI), a national non-profit organization, is under contract with the Community Block Grant Administration to provide technical assistance to community-based groups located in Milwaukee; and
Whereas, CMDI will be staffing a booth at this conference, which will highlight development opportunities in Wisconsin; and
Whereas, This is a unique opportunity to promote developable Milwaukee retail sites to a number of potential buyers; and
Whereas, The adopted 2000 City Budget provides $25,000 in the Economic Development Committee Fund (Account Number 0001-1310-S123-006300), an account to be used for the purposes of promoting the City of Milwaukee's economic development programs, retaining industry and employers in the City, and attracting new industry to the community; and
