Title

Resolution directing the Department of Administration to determine additional ways that e-text could be used by the City.

Analysis

This resolution directs the Department of Administration - Information Technology Management Division to work with all departments to determine additional ways that e-text could be used by the City.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has access to technology which can send automated text messages, otherwise known as e-texts, to residents who wish to receive them; and

 

Whereas, Some City departments successfully use e-texts to improve service delivery quality and satisfaction; and

 

Whereas, There may be other ways that e-text can be used to improve service delivery quality and satisfaction that have not yet been explored; and 

 

Whereas, The 2025 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 240001 on November 8, 2024; and

 

Whereas, Amendment 8 placed a footnote in the 2025 Budget directing the Department of Administration - Information Technology Management Division (ITMD) to work with all departments to determine additional ways that e-text could be used by the City; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Administration - Information Technology Management Division is directed to evaluate the ways that e-text is being used by all City departments and develop recommendations for additional uses of e-text; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Information Technology Management Division shall present its findings and recommendations to the Common Council within 90 days of adoption of this resolution.
