This resolution appropriates $50,000 from Special Purpose Account Number 09-910-8438 in the City Clerk's budget for consulting services relating to certain pension-related matters. A 3-member committee consisting of the Common Council President and the chairpersons of the Finance and Personnel Committee and the Judiciary and Legislation Committee will select the consultants.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Employes' Retirement System has been a subject of controversy in recent years; and

Whereas, It is in the best interests of the City of Milwaukee that a consultant examine the system and advise City policymakers what, if any, changes may be necessary to improve the operation of the system to benefit all plan participants; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $50,000 is appropriated from Special Purpose Account 09-910-8438 in the City Clerk's budget for the purpose of hiring consultants to provide consulting services relating to the operation of the City's Employes' Retirement System, including but not limited to current litigation against the City, and to make recommendations to City policymakers concerning any changes which may be required to improve the operation of the system such as the creation of a new pension system; and, be it

Further Resolved, That funds so appropriated from this special purpose account shall not be subject to the provisions of s. 16-05, City Charter, relating to procurement procedures; and, be it
