Analysis

This resolution directs the Commissioner of City Development and the Director of the Department of Administration to collaborate to identify 10 multi-unit properties that can be used as emergency housing by the end of 2020.

Body

Whereas, Victims of human trafficking and domestic violence have limited options for temporary housing; and

 

Whereas, Milwaukee residents whose homes are being abated for lead are often required to vacate the premises during abatement and may have limited means for securing alternate housing; and

 

Whereas, The City owns numerous residential properties fit for habitation which are currently vacant; and

 

Whereas, The 2020 Adopted Budget includes a footnote indicating that the Department of City Development should work collaboratively with the Department of Administration to identify 10 City-owned, multi-family units which can be used as emergency housing; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of City Development and the Director of the Department of Administration are directed to collaborate to identify 10 multi-unit properties that can be used as emergency housing by the end of 2020.
