- Analysis -

This ordinance deletes the requirement that a vehicle must have an overnight parking permit to park on the street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. The ordinance also increases the forfeiture for overnight parking violations (alternate side parking) from $10 to $15. The ordinance takes effect January 1, 2001.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 81-85 of the code is repealed.

Part 2. Section 101-27-2 of the code is repealed and recreated to read:

101-27. All Night Parking.

2. NIGHT PARKING PERMITTED. a. Vehicles may be parked between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. as provided in this section.

b. The owner of any motor truck with valid license plates issued by the Wisconsin department of transportation, division of motor vehicles, but not used for commercial purposes and that is not larger than 21 feet in length, 7 feet in width and 7 feet in height and that has no more than 4 single-tired wheels, may park as provided in this section.

Part 3. Section 101-27-4 of the code is amended to read:

4. CERTAIN VEHICLES [[NOT ELIGIBLE]] >>PROHIBITED<<. Motor trucks, except as provided elsewhere in the code, luxury limousines, as defined in s. 100-3-11, motor buses, motor delivery wagons, trailers, semitrailers, camping trailers, motor homes, mobile homes and tractors [[shall not be eligible for such special privilege parking permits]] >>are prohibited from parking under this section<< .

Part 4. Section 101-27-5 and 6 of the code is repealed.
