This resolution amends the Contract Between the City of Milwaukee and the Kohn Law Firm for the collection of receivables of the City of Milwaukee entered into on January 1, 1997 to provide a waiver from its terms and conditions to permit the City of Milwaukee Fire Department to enter into a contract with a private entity to provide medical billing and collection services for basic life support emergency medical transport provided by the Fire Department.


BODY:
Whereas, On March 1, 2000, the Milwaukee Fire Department commences billing for basic life support emergency medical transport it will be providing; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department lacks adequate staffing to bill the responsible parties for these services and seeks to enter into a contract with a private entity for medical billing services for this purpose; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee and the Kohn Law Firm entered into a contract for the collection of the City of Milwaukee receivables on January 1, 1997 for a term of five years; and

Whereas, The billing services to be provided to the Fire Department will include collection services and the Kohn Law Firm does not provide billing services with its collection services; now, therefore, be it
