Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2021 Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry grant - Asset Management System for Municipal Nursery.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works - Operations Division (Forestry Section) to accept and fund a 2021 Urban Forestry grant from Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) in the amount of up to $50,000 with a city share of $25,000 and a grantor share of $25,000. The purpose of the grant is to implement an asset management system for the Municipal Nursery that tracks field-grown trees to street tree planting locations. The tracking link between nursery and planting locations will allow morbidity and mortality analysis based on tree species and cultivars which will promote further diversity in the street tree planting program.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from WDNR to implement an asset management system for the Municipal Nursery implement an asset management system for the Municipal Nursery that tracks field-grown trees to street tree planting locations. The tracking link between nursery and planting locations will allow morbidity and mortality analysis based on tree species and cultivars which will promote further diversity in the street tree planting program; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 1/1/2021 to 12/31/2021 would cost $50,000 of which, $25,000 (50%) would be provided by the city and $25,000 (50%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of Public Works shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
