Analysis
This resolution implements a footnote to a Special Purpose Account in the amount of $50,000 established in the 2007 City Budget, entitled Fire and Police Department Monitoring/Auditing. This footnote states funds may only be spent for purposes of periodic monitoring and auditing of the Police and Fire Departments, in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Common Council resolution setting the specific limitations on the use of these funds.

The Department of Administration and the City Purchasing Director are authorized to develop Request for Proposals for periodic monitoring and auditing of the Police and Fire Departments, and the RFP shall be subject to Common Council review and approval. A committee shall be established to evaluate proposals and award the contract. The committee shall be composed of the Mayor or the Mayor’s designee, one Common Council member appointed by the Common Council President, the Chair of the Public Safety Committee, one Fire and Police Commissioner, one Fire and Police Commission staff designee and one Milwaukee Commission on Police Community Relations designee.
