Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Speed & Other Aggressive Driving Enforcement Patrols Grant. (Police Department)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Speed & Other Aggressive Driving Enforcement Patrols Grant from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation, in the amount of $34,690 with a city share of $13,690 and a grantor share of $21,000. The purpose of this project is to deploy police officers on overtime to enforce traffic, pedestrian, and criminal laws in the city's neighborhoods, enabling children to walk to school in a safe environment.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation, for a Speed & Other Aggressive Driving Enforcement Patrols Grant; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 01/01/05 to 09/30/05 would cost $34,690, of which $13,690 (39%) would be provided by the city and $21,000 (61%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council file 030712; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2005 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Speed & Other Aggressive Driving Enforcement Patrols Grant
