ANLS:
This substitute resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for, accept and fund a Juvenile Firesetters Intervention Specialist grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Grant funds will be used to develop and implement a Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist course.
BODY:
Whereas, Under the terms of the Juvenile Firesetters Intervention Specialist course, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, for arson prevention public education; and

Whereas, It would appear that City involvement in this grant and aid program, and more specifically in a grant and aid project involving additional financial support for arson prevention would result in the following major benefits to the City; and

Whereas, Development and implementation of an arson prevention public education campaign including classroom and instructional material that support arson prevention goals; and

Whereas, The Department of Administration, Division of Intergovernmental Relations, has determined that operation of this grant from July 1, 2000 to December 31, 2001 would cost approximately $7,453.50 of which $5,000 or (67%) would be provided by the Grantor and $2,453.50 or (33%) would be provided by the City; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency is authorized and the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 94-0843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
