This resolution would accept the donation of a limestone sign identifying the Nature Center at the Hawthorn Glen Environmental Center located at 1130 North 60th Street as the Martin E. Schreiber Nature Center.

BODY:
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, through the adoption of Resolution 970474, authorized the renaming of the Nature Center at the Hawthorn Glen Environmental Center located at 1130 North 60th Street as the Martin E. Schreiber Nature Center; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee, as part of the renaming, will be installing a plaque in the Nature Center Assembly Room, and a limestone sign over the north entrance of the Nature Center; and

Whereas, The family of Martin E. Schreiber wishes to donate to the City as part of the renaming of the Nature Center, a free standing limestone sign engraved to read "Martin E. Schreiber Nature Center", to be placed at the west entrance to the Nature Center, at no cost to the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, Presently, the Department of Public Works-Buildings & Fleet Division is not authorized to accept private contributions for improvements to the Hawthorn Glen Environmental Center; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works-Buildings and Fleet Division, is authorized to accept an engraved, free standing limestone sign as part of the renaming of the Nature Center at the Hawthorn Glen Environmental Center in accordance with established City policies and procedures for acceptance of contribut...
