Resolution reserving ($250,000) from the Common Council Contingent Fund to the City Attorney Collection Contract Special Purpose Account to fund collection activity services for the remainder of the year for City receivables and overdue Municipal Court judgments.

BODY:
Whereas, On December 17, 1996 the Common Council passed resolution File Nos. 961270 and 961271 authorizing contracts with the Kohn Law Firm for the collection of City receivables and Professional Account Management, Inc. (PAM) for the collection of overdue Municipal Court judgments; and
Whereas, Funding for both these activities is under the jurisdiction of the City Attorney's Office Collection Contract Special Purpose Account; and
Whereas, There has been a record increase in new case filings in Municipal Court causing the amount of judgments and overdue forfeitures to rise resulting in increased collections by PAM; and
Whereas, Collection activity costs for the remainder of the year are projected to exceed the 1997 budget allocation; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the Comptoller is authorized and directed to reserve $250,000 from the Common Council Contingent Fund Account No. 09-910-8000 for potential transfer to the Common Council Contingent Fund Special Purpose Account No. 01-003-8001, and to transfer the reserved funds as needed for payment of collection activity services.
