Title
A substitute ordinance relating to the maintenance of data on city-owned parking facilities.
Section
309-61-4 cr
Analysis
This ordinance requires the commissioner of public works to maintain data regarding the number of parking spaces and the number of accessible parking spaces in city-owned parking facilities. This applies to both public and employee parking facilities. This data shall be reported quarterly to the public works committee.
Body
Whereas, The Americans with Disabilities Act and related federal guidance define what an accessible parking space is and require that all parking facilities provide accessible parking spaces; and

Whereas, The number of accessible parking spaces required depends on the total number of parking spaces provided in each parking facility; and

Whereas, Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act can only be demonstrated if accurate data is maintained for every parking facility owned by the City; now, therefore

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 309-61-4 of the code is created to read:

309-61. Operation of Parking Facilities.
4. PARKING FACILITY DATA. The commissioner of public works shall maintain data regarding the number of parking spaces and the number of accessible parking spaces in city-owned parking facilities. This data shall be maintained for both public and employee parking facilities and be reported quarterly to the public works committee. In this subsection, an accessible parking space shall have the same meaning as in the current Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design.
