Substitute resolution relative to the application, acceptance and funding of the 2008 Public Health Preparedness (CDC) Grant from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the 2008 Public Health Preparedness (CDC) Grant from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services in the amount of $360,831. The purpose of the contract is to assure that the Milwaukee Health Department is ready to respond to emergencies including terrorism, pandemic influenza, and other communicable disease outbreaks. These emergency preparedness and response efforts are intended to support the National Response Plan (NRP) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services for the 2008 Public Health Preparedness (CDC) Grant; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/08 to 12/31/08 would cost $360,831 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2008 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled 2008 Public Health Preparedness (CDC) Grant:
